Monday:
Hello and good day to all. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Get ready for the heat, it is on its way, and say goodbye to the beautiful snow.
If for whatever reason you have not done the Third Quarter Survey, please do so this period. The link is below. Third Quarter Survey
All work and results from activities will be turned in using the Shared Google Doc below. Each of you have your own page with your name at the top. Please post and submit everything due today on that document. Shared Document for April 7, 2014
Lots to do today. So, grab hold and hang on tight. Go to the link below to study some alternative energy key terms. Quizlet Alternative Key Terms
Please study the terms for five minutes, play the Scatter game and Space Race games to practice the terms. Be sure to screenshot and post your best times to the shared document. Then at 10:50 I want you to click on the 'Learn' function, do the activity and share your score with me when you are done. Be sure to post your score for a grade.
At 11:00 I want you to take a web quiz. Please use the link below, then select Chapter 15 and take the quiz. Please click to show your results after you are finished with the quiz and share your results with me on the shared document. Energy Web Quiz
At 11:15 we will move on to the next assignment. We are going to attempt to do a digital lab. Now, this is confusing, so please do not get frustrated. Do not worry about the data table. Let us just focus on running the lab. I would like you to run the simulator and keep adjusting levels and parameters until you both maintain the supply of energy until 2100 and keep the carbon ppm below 550. Then answer questions in the attached form.
The link to the lab we did in class is below. Energy Resources Lab
After you are done running the lab for the "Managing Resources" portion, go ahead and change your energy efficiency and your carbon sequestration rates per year and see how that will have an effect on your results. I would like you to record your data for years 2020, 2050, and 2100. Please take screenshots of the lab simulator for each year and then open up 'Adjust Energy Sources' and record your data for each fuel source as a Percentage and as the Energy TJ.
After you are complete in running the lab once through, you may adjust your Energy Efficiency and your Carbon Capture per year in your "Advanced Options" and run the lab again. End result, I want you to be able to meet the energy needs of the the ever developing and populating world, and stay under the 550ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere. Then be sure to know what parameters we will have to get to in order to meet that challenge.
MeKeena just showed me a problem. This got removed from last weeks wiki. That was my mistake. So, if you tried to do quiz corrections you were not able to do so. The free response question is after the multiple choice. If you would like to improve last Thursday's quiz score, hand write each question and correct answer from this chapter and I will average the two scores.
